Baptismal preparation classes at St. John’s are held in the Church on the First Sunday of every month after the 12:15 Mass. Both parents who wish to have their child baptized, as well as the godparents, are asked to attend a baptismal preparation class. Please contact the parish office to register by the first Thursday of the month.
Only the parent(s) or legal guardians(s) may present children for baptism. Grandparents and other relatives cannot present children for baptism without expressed written permission from parents who are otherwise not able to do so.
An official state Birth Certificate is required with registration. Parents must also present valid identification (Driver’s License).
Baptisms are normally celebrated on the second Sunday of each month at the 12:15 pm Mass in the Church.
Baptism of Children after Age 6 If your child has not been baptized and is entering into the Youth Formation Program to begin religious education, they may be baptized after one complete year of catechetical formation with no more than 3 absences a semester. Parents and godparents must also attend the baptism preparation classes. Please inform the Youth Formation Office at the start of the year that your child is in need of Baptism so that we may aide you in preparation and registration.
