The Eucharist is "the source and summit of the Christian life." "The other sacraments, and indeed all ecclesiastical ministries and works of the apostolate, are bound up with the Eucharist and are oriented toward it. For in the blessed Eucharist is contained the whole spiritual good of the Church, namely Christ himself, our Pasch." CCC 1324
Preparing to receive the Sacrament of the Eucharist (1st Communion) is a two year commitment of formation. This process usually begins with first and second-grade students committing to class attendance, Saint Fair, Retreat, Penance and an exit sacramental interview with the Little Flock coordinator.
The students will be eligible to receive the Sacrament of the Eucharist for the first time usually at the end of their second year of formation.
All children are welcomed and encouraged to begin this process after the age of reason, 7 years old. All sacrament requirements are addressed at the parents meeting at the beginning of each Catechetical year and the Children's Formation Coordinator, Jacob Raggozine welcomes all inquiries. He may be reached at 361-991-4400 x107 or emailed at [email protected]
