Fr. Vásquez was ordained a priest for the Diocese of Corpus Christi on June 14, 2003 by The Most Reverend Edmond Carmody at Corpus Christi Cathedral and has been pastor of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church since August 11, 2011. He attended the University of Dallas and completed his education and priestly formation at St. Charles Borromeo Seminary in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia.
He has previously served as Parochial Vicar for Most Precious Blood Church, Our Lady of Perpetual Help, St. John the Baptist and Our Lady of Guadalupe all in Corpus Christi. In 2005 Bishop Carmody assigned him to assist in the creation of Bl. John Paul II High School were he helped to develop the spiritual life program and the theology department. From 2006-2013 served as an assistant coach on the 2 time state chapmionship Centurion baseball team at Bl. John Paul II HS. Fr. Vásquez served as the Theology Department Chair and taught at John Paul until 2010.
In May of 2010 he was appointed administrator of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Corpus Christi until July of 2011 and administrator of St. John the Baptist until August of 2012. On August 11, 2012 Bishop Michael Mulvey appointed him as Pastor of St. John the Baptist.
Fr. Vásquez has served as adjunct instructor of Religious Studies in the undergraduate division of the University of the Incarnate Word ADCaP program in Corpus Christi were he has taught courses such as: Religious Quest, Christian Signs and Symbols, Christian Worship, God and Human Sexuality, Women in Christian Tradition, Catholic Social Justice, Death and Dying, Christianity in Art.
